The Lady Blaze basketball team poses for a picture with Julian.

Freshman Julian Williams has been a student in Blackman schools for much of his life, but it wasn’t until recently that he developed Parkinson’s disease. Although he is almost always in severe pain, he has still tried to find joy in whatever he can, whenever he can.
One of the activities that Julian has enjoyed most is basketball. He has been able to watch both the boys and girls practice multiple times and has become their “unofficial” captain, spurring them on to victory time and time again.
“We really feel like this has helped him grow physically and mentally, as well as become a larger part of Blackman High School,” stated John Strickland, assistant principal.
When Blackman played Siegel, Julian had an experience he will never forget. He was able to captain both games and sit on the bench with the team.
In a truly heartwarming story, Julian had one of his dreams come true in the spirit of true Blackman pride.
