Writing is a way of self-expression, catharsis (emotional cleansing), exploration, creativity, and a way to connect many to one piece of writing through emotion. Creative writing at Blackman High School is a course taught by Mrs. Nadeau and Mr. Mullane. The elective provides useful skills, including cooperation, eloquent and vivid vocabulary, and growth in imagination and writing strengths. Here are a few creative writing prompts and bonus tips.

Tips for Creative Writing
Slow down in your writing. Take a while to describe the atmosphere and vivid, sensory aspects.
Every piece of dialogue has a purpose.
Dialogue is not just for conveying information; it is also for revealing plot points, backstory, and tension.
Sophomore Airaenulla Merce stated a tip for creative writing: “When they (the prompt) tell you to show the details and not tell, do not do it… Have a balance between both showing and telling. Be careful.”
When writing pre-free, sit for a second and contemplate what you want to write about.
Another dialogue tip from Mrs. Nadeau: “Do not be afraid to find inspiration for dialogue from your reality. To find inspiration, discover it in mundane, everyday conversations.”
reative writing is a special art form filled with passion, self-expression, and the freedom to let thoughts run unrestricted. Grow your writing skills and style! Embrace your inner writer and have fun creating fantastic stories with these prompts.
