Acne Tips and Tricks

As teenagers, all of our bodies are going through the dreaded change of puberty. With this change comes unexpected things like acne.

Male and female teenagers often struggle with pesky bumps or uneven tones in their skin. Whiteheads and blackheads seem to curse our young faces.

Here are a few acne tips from around the internet to help you cope with your ever-changing skin.

#1 Although every single person on the face of the earth has said this, DRINK WATER. If you divide your weight in pounds by 2, you will get the recommended amount of water you should be drinking a day.

#2 A big part of breakouts is your diet. One of the biggest things you can do is cut out dairy products. Milk, cheese, and other dairy products can clog your pores and produce build up.

#3 This tip is more for the ladies: always remove your makeup. Wearing make up overnight will dirty your pillows and blankets, and those oils will transfer onto your face every night. Make-up wipes and coconut oil work best. You can purchase both at your local Walmart.

Many people also use Micellar water, which you can also purchase at Walmart, Target, or Ulta Beauty.

#4 DO NOT TOUCH YOUR FACE. The only times you should be touching your face is during washing. Try to avoid feeling your face throughout the day. Your hands carry dirt and oil, so if you are going to pop your pimples, use clean hands.

#5 Speaking of pimples, you may not be popping them properly. Wash your hands before and after you go to pop a pimple. Do not use your finger nails, only your finger-tips. If it hurts, then it’s not ready to be popped yet

#6 Face masks are your friend! Depending on your skin type (oily, dry, combination) there are certain face masks tailored just for you. Yesto, Freeman’s, and 7th Haven are some of the most talked about brands. You can find bot Freemans and 7th Haven at Walmart. You can find Yesto at your local Target.

#7 Lastly, clean your sheets and pillows often. Your sheets, pillows, and comforter retain tons of dead skin cells, dirt, and bacteria from your face. Make-up and dirt will get trapped in your pores every night your sheets aren’t clean.
