New Year, New Library

Beginning in late December, the library was closed for roughly a month for the renovations.

With the library recently reopening, the students were not disappointed.

“It’s great, [and] I like it. It still smells new, and that [the opening of the library] was a month ago,” said Triston Dwinell, sophomore.

There is a state-of-the-art floor design, freshly painted walls, new carpet, and an exceptional, “new year, new me” feel.

“The library renovation started with the news that the library would be getting new carpet. Then Zach Adams, senior, took on a library redesign as his BCA Capstone project,” said Seadorf, Blackman High School librarian.

It is a great, fresh way to start the new semester. Other students will appreciate being able to have a fresh environment as they work on their assignments or just relax.

“Using parts of his dream plan that were doable with what furniture the library already had and under $500 in paint and accessories (excluding the cost of the carpet), the library has a whole new look! Special thanks for this project go to [Tim] Pedigo, the custodial staff, and Zach Adams,” said Seadorf.

The library also looks bigger, feels roomier, and is overall cozier to make students and teachers feel more welcome.

“I like the new arrangements [because] it’s much easier to navigate,” said Kaitlyn Ragland, sophomore.
