A new phrase has taken the world by storm. The numbers 67, but pronounced “six seven,” are often said with a hand gesture of moving your arms up and down in a see-saw motion with your palms facing up.
But what does it mean and where does it come from? The phrase “six seven” originates from the song “Doot Doot” by “Skrilla” in 2024. This song was often used for TikTok edits of basketball player LaMelo Ball due to his height being 6’7. The phrase also has no apparent or significant meaning but has just become new slang.
“I think LaMelo is six seven, meaning he’s extra rizzy and super good at basketball. I think six seven is the best brain rot term of the Gen Alpha era,” says sophomore Linkin Goddard. “I think the Gen Alpha children came up with some really great stuff there, hashtag six seven.”
With the song being popular in late 2024 to early 2025, AAU basketball player Taylen Kinney, also referred to as “TK,” was asked a question about his aura, rating it a “67.” This clip was posted to TikTok and went viral very quickly. TK used this viral moment to create his own “67 Water,” which is a canned purified water with a Gopuff sponsorship that was launched on July 11, 2025.
This phrase has led to merchandise being made, collaborations with brands, and has truly taken over people’s everyday lingo. Some brands have used the phrase in ad promotions, including the NFL, Domino’s using $6.70 pizzas, and Clash Royale making a six-seven emote.
Even some notable celebrities such as Paige Bueckers, LeBron James, and Kim Kardashian have been using the phrase “six seven” in internet clips and memes.
There have been several spin-offs of the joke, including a new phrase of “41. ” Rapper “Blizzi Boi” has notable lyrics that say, “41 but I got 41 gold,” which went viral on TikTok. This new phrase has no direct meaning but has just become an overall funny slang word.
“41 but I got 41 gold makes me feel amazing. I use the Clash Royale emote with Wizard 67,” says sophomore Jayson Rondon while moving his hands up and down. “It makes other people feel angry, but it’s elite; when you have 67, it makes you feel more powerful.”
Overall, the phrase “six seven” is a fun joke that originated from a song, turned into a viral meme that is primarily used by Gen Alpha. With it being popular on social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram, it is a very big part of Gen Alpha .
