The first-ever A.I. Minister was instituted in early September of 2025. The Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence in Albania, Diella, was appointed by Prime Minister Edi Rama. Diella, dressed in traditional Albanian attire, appeared on Albanian television on Sept. 18. Many viewers regarded Diella as theatrical or unconstitutional, condemning this as a bad choice.
In fact, Diella herself stated, “Some have called me ‘unconstitutional’ because I am not a human being.” She followed this with a bold statement defending her role “Let me remind you, the real danger to constitutions has never been the machines but the inhumane decisions of those in power.”
Senior Andrea Alimpic, shared her thoughts on this “Has the world not learned anything from movies about artificial intelligence? Like, did they not see what happened in the movie ‘I, Robot’?”
Another senior, Kate Bowden, also felt like this was “crazy” and was stunned that they would even think of doing something like this.
However, research shows that using A.I. to oversee public problems could eliminate corruption and reduce human error. Since A.I. is not based on biased thoughts, this could prove to be a fairer representation of justice.
All things considered, this could lead the world to a new era. Whether Diella will help Albania fight corruption or simply become another false hope remains to be seen.
