Homecoming is a wonderful, fun time at Blackman for students, staff and the community overall; it is an event labeled as one of the best times of the school year.
Last week’s homecoming week was full of festivities to excite everyone for the new football season and to look forward to a new school year.
Dress-Up Days:
This year’s theme, “Once Upon a Homecoming,” with its Disney and fairytale elements, made it magical. On Monday, with the theme of Sleeping Beauty, many students enjoyed wearing their comfortable pajamas. Fast forward to Friday, many people showed their Blackman school spirit by wearing Blackman apparel and school colors.
Parade:
It was a fun way to share Blackman school pride, all the way from elementary school to high school. Many clubs and sports were festive for the parade, especially Volleyball, with their Minions- themed float and balloons. In addition, the band played delightful songs from their theme, “Fiesta Latina.”
Blaze Bash:
A variety of food was available, including Dubai chocolate made by OCSM, nachos from TSA, and the Taste of China provided by Student Council, among others. The Taste of China’s line was full of students eagerly waiting, and it mostly received positive reviews.
Junior Jordi Roseman said, ” The sesame chicken was very good and tasty.”
Variety Show:
The auditorium was bustling with laughter and applause from the students who attended. The acts ranged from musical solos to hilarious skits performed by fellow students, as well as song covers. Senior Mikela Allyel mentioned, “My favorite part of the variety show was the performance of ‘Creep’ by Radiohead.”
Homecoming was a great week overall, with its activities, bonding of the community and memories made.
