Summer Movies are classified to be movies that release during the period of June 20 to Sept. 22, 2025. During that period, multiple highly anticipated movies were released and watched by numerous people at our school.
“Superman” was released July 11, 2025, and has an age rating of PG-13. During its time in theaters, it earned $611 million worldwide. The movie was directed by James Gunn, with David Corenswet starring as Superman. The genre is superhero action.
Junior Beck Seadorf says, “This Movie was beautiful. Lex Luthor was a generational hater. Superman was great, too. I cried four times. The Supergirl cameo was really cool, as well as the Peacemaker cameo. I did not expect him to show up. The choreography and cinematography were really good. It made me believe in humanity again and it feels straight out of a comic book.”
“Happy Gilmore 2” was released July 25, 2025, on Netflix as a sequel to the Adam Sandler gold comedy, “Happy Gilmore.” The movie is rated PG-13 and had 46.7 million streams during its opening weekend on Netflix. The movie is directed by Kyle Newacheck and has Adam Sandler returning to the role of Happy Gilmore.
“Fantastic Four” was released July 25, 2025. It is rated PG-13 and grossed $508.2 million worldwide. The movie was directed by Matt Shakman. starring Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Joseph Quinn as Human Torch and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm. The genre is superhero science fiction.
Sophomore Ryle Shivers states, “I thought the ‘Fantastic Four’ film was fantastic for its first steps.”
“Jurassic World: Rebirth” was released July 2, 2025, and earned $828 million worldwide with the film rated PG-13. The director of the movie is Gareth Edwards and had Scarlet Johansson playing a mercenary of Zora Bennet. The genre is science fiction thriller.
“KPop Demon Hunters” is a Netflix movie that was released June 20, 2025, and had a theatrical sing along release on Aug. 23, 2025. It had 267 million streams and earned $19 million in revenue. The movie is rated PG and was directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhams. The lead actors include Arden Cho as Rumi, May Hong as Mira, and Ji-Young Yoo as Zoey. The genre of the movie is action musical.
