Pie To The Face: Key Club’s effort to raise food for the homeless
Next week, March 14-18, Key Club will be hosting their Pie To The Face Donation Drive in support of local homeless individuals and families.
The drive will be held for Greenhouse Ministries of Murfreesboro. It will raise food and toiletries to be handed out to homeless individuals, as well as featuring multiple prizes within school.
For example, the top three donating students will get to choose one teacher each (from the list below) to get a pie in the face.
Administrators:
Principal Dr. Leisa Justus, Assistant Principal Alexander Trakas, Assistant Principal Justin Smith, and Assistant Principal Scott Lawless.
Teachers:
Adam West, Sienna Holl, Brandi Parsell, Jonathan Kinney, Richie Conner, Diane Brewer, Chef Frank Pinnix, Kimberly Baumann, Marilyn Roberts, Andrew Feyka, Vannessa Krauss, Lori Brown, Geneva Cook, Jennifer Workman, Diane Webb, Michael Rehnborg, and Band Director Jonathan Wright.
The top three first periods will also get Donut Country as breakfast.
Students may donate before school or during lunch at the Key Club booth, which will be located at the entrance of the cafeteria.
The list of accepted food and toiletry items is below:
Green beans, peas, corn, any canned beans, any canned vegetables, any canned fruit, boxed macaroni and cheese, any canned soup, spaghetti sauce, pancake mix, syrup, peanut butter, jelly, instant mashed potatoes, oatmeal, ramen noodles, crackers, cookies, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, body wash (liquid and bar), toothpaste, toothbrush, underwear (all ages and genders), razors, shaving cream, and socks (all ages and genders).
For those who want to help as much as possible, Greenhouse is currently low on all canned meats such as chicken, tuna, pork, ham, and beef.
This event is part of an annual partnership between Blackman Key Club and Greenhouse Ministries, which began as part of a Capstone project last semester.
