Blackman students react to Titans’ regular season ahead of playoffs

The Titans have been in Tennessee for 24 years and have a devoted fanbase. Before they were the Titans, they were the Houston Oilers and for a brief period the Tennessee Oilers.

This season they won 12 of their 17 games for a record of 12-5.

“I expected that we would have a high-powered offense going in and win most of the matchups going into the season,” said senior Garrison Gravely.

A defining feature of the Titans’ season is their injuries. They have had more than 25 injured players overall this season.

“I think we are having a decent season, but we have too many unhealthy players who need to recover. I think the injuries have limited the team from reaching their full potential,” stated Gravely.

“If we had no injuries, we would be an elite caliber team,” said senior Rayen Patel.

Despite the number of injuries, they still managed to clinch the AFC South for the second straight year, and they also clinched the #1 seed in the AFC.

The top offense player this season is Ryan Tannehill, and the top defense player is Harold Landry. Ryan Tannehill is responsible for over 3,000 yards this season. Helping with defense, Harold Landry is leading with 11 sacks.

“My favorite part of the season was the Sunday Night Football game where the defense balled out led by Byard and Jeffery Simmons,” stated Gravely.

Fans have stood by the team no matter what and have enjoyed the season.
