The high school football season in the state of Tennessee begins this week as teams across the state look to bring home a state championship this December. Although, the COVID-19 pandemic is still very much alive, proper protocols such as attendance limits have been added to ensure a successful return to play.

On Saturday, the Blackman Blaze will travel to Alcoa, TN to take on the 18-time 3A state champion Alcoa Tornadoes. Blackman is coming off a successful 2019 season where they finished 8-5 making it to the 6A quarterfinals. Last year, the Tornadoes finished 14-1 winning the 3A state championship for the 5th straight season.

This is the second game of a 2-year home and home series between the two schools as last year Alcoa defeated Blackman 23-14 in Murfreesboro. Once again it will be student vs teacher as Blackman Head Coach Kit Hartsfield played for legendary Alcoa Head Coach Gary Rankin at Riverdale
