Epic Mentors is one thing…but Blaze Ambassadors?

The counselors arranged a welcome pizza party for all the new students that came to Blackman on December 9, 2016. The guidance aides attended as well to take the time to get to know the newcomers.

In addition, they talked about tips to stay on top in high school and how to get into their desired college. The guidance aides take on their new title as Blaze Ambassadors, which are mentors to new students who came from out of town or suddenly transitioned to another school.

One of the Blaze Ambassadors, Hope Strickland, said, “I’m glad I get to be a part of it. I love helping and meeting new people. It’s a cool experience.”

The guidance counselors will host another party at the office in the spring to check in with the students, and to keep up communication, the blaze ambassadors and new students have exchanged phone numbers to stay in contact.
