Promposals
Spring has officially arrived, and the smell of relationally-stressed teenagers is in the air. Prom is quickly approaching, and many seniors are desperately searching for a date. Some people went the extra mile and “promposed,” relying heavily on puns, costumes, and even live animals to convince their hopeful dates.
Joshua Miller, senior, promposed to Paige Holloway, junior, by dressing up as Prince Charming and bringing a shoe for the princess to try on. Conveniently, he already had the costume because he was Prince Charming in the play Into the Woods. “He’s my best friend and seeing him still almost made me cry,” stated Holloway.
Lindsey Brown, senior, from Central Magnet School, promposed to Daniel Suarez, senior, using several puns, including “Will you goat to prom with me?” To complete the pun, she brought a live goat. “I was really surprised and happy I get to goat to prom with her,” said Suarez.
Grant Waldron, senior, promposed to Reilly Green, freshman. He showed off his inner musician by bringing some members of the drumline to play in the school cafeteria. He wrote “PROM?” on the underside of the drums.Joey Brown, senior, promposed to Edith Rosas, senior, by dressing up as a chicken and using a bilingual pun: “I finally got the huevos to ask you to prom.” Brown said that “the greatest part was that she had no clue, she was just sitting there like, ‘aww, how cute, a promposal,’ and then we walked towards her and she flipped. Priceless.”
