Blaze Basketball Keeps Burning Bright

27-0. District 7AAA champions. What’s next? Blackman has been an unstoppable force this season, and they didn’t slow down in the district tournament.

They overcame the Oakland Patriots challenge for the third time this season and won their fourth district title in the last five years. This team has worked together and accomplished great things this season, and they definitely have much more in store.

Cedriontis Wilson and Christian Dewitt, seniors, and Donavan Sims, junior, were all selected to this years All-District team. Christian Dewitt also took home the regular season MVP and district tournament MVP awards.

What has made this team so great is the ability of so many players who can take control of the game. While this team is without a true “star” player, some nights even non-starters have had hot streaks. The team has played together for four years and has grown together under the guidance of Coach Barry Wortman.

Blackman has not lost a single game this year, but now, each loss could mean that the season is over. With the girls being eliminated from the tournament at the regional level, it is up to the boys basketball team to bring home another coveted Gold Ball to Blackman High School.
