Highschool can be a difficult change if you’re just starting off as a freshman, the differences between middle school and high school are majorly different. High school isn’t as bad as your teachers or others say, as long as you keep up the work and behavior.
The portrayal of high school isn’t deemed as good in books, tv shows, or movies. But it isn’t always like that; you make your experience how you want it to be; the future and future actions are in your hands. Throughout high school, students will experience maturity and academic changes, there are many tips to help freshmen become their best in high school!
- Don’t fool around, be respectful to everyone around you.
- Make new friends, don’t stay with the same friend group and try to go beyond your comfort zone.
- Ask for help; always email your teachers when you’re in need of help and reassurance.
- Join sports, clubs, or organizations; they help with your resume for future colleges.
- Have fun; high school is the first and last experience you’ll get so make the most of it!
Learning from upperclassmen can also be helpful to those who are newer to the school, they hold and know a lot more information as well.
“Don’t be scared of upperclassmen and try your best,” senior Reese Pomeroy claimed when asked about tips for freshmen.
In high school, more people will be willing to help you grow and evolve as a person before reaching the real world. So, slacking around will not help you as it will leave you unprepared and not ready for the things the world has to offer.
“Try to get involved in things, it’ll make your high school career much more enjoyable. Also, don’t start it off by slacking on your grades because it’ll make it much harder later,” junior Victoria Isip said.
High school will become what you make it to be, whether it’s relationships, partnerships or academics, your choices will matter later and will affect you. So be on your best behavior and apply yourself to your schooling.
