Blackman had an overwhelming victory at their football game on Sept. 13, ending the game with a score of 35-0.
The game started off with the presenting of the colors by Cadets from the Blaze JROTC Battalion and the National Anthem performed by the Blackman Blaze Marching Band.
The first half of the game started out with a Blackman lead, ending the quarters with a score of 28-0. Senior Jalen Anderson said that the game, “started off pretty rough on both sides of the ball, but we eventually fell into our groove.” The game was one-sided, as the Blackman defense allowed no points. Quarterback Marcus Cameron, sophomore, played a big role in the offense, helping the team score their points by making good throws down the field.
Cameron said that this game has helped him, “feel a lot more comfortable and confident going into playing against Oakland.” This was Cameron’s first time starting for varsity, and the win made him feel great.
The team was able to get their first points in their game because of Senior Austin Moore’s fumble return for a touchdown, his second one of the season. Sophomore running back Daniel Smith sustained an injury during the game, with the trainer believing something happened to his ACL- which could mean he would be out for the rest of the season.
Blackman’s defensive stop aftercoming out of halftime was a key moment in the game, essentially securing Blackman’s victory. Anderson believes that Blackman needs to move onto the next opponent, even though they ended the game with a shutout.
