Laws tell people what they can and can’t do, and if you break those laws there will be a punishment. Whether it is a fine, community service or jail time, it is enough to keep most people from breaking them. But there are some weird laws that nobody would think exist, so students at Blackman High School shared their thoughts on these strange laws.
In Texas it is illegal to sell eyeballs. Texas passed this law because they try to aim to not allow people to use body parts for financial gain.
“This sucks because I love selling eyeballs, and this makes me lose all of my clients from Texas,” joked junior Isaac Leavy.
In Ohio it is illegal to sell dog hair. I really wonder what happened when someone sold dog hair in Ohio.
Ohio also has a law that you can’t sell dyed chickens. I really wonder why people dye chickens, and why it’s illegal to sell them in Ohio
“I think this law is actually very good because I would hate for there to be dyed chickens running around in Ohio,” expressed junior Aleks Erdman.
“I’m lowkey hurt that all the dog hair in Ohio goes to waste which can cause {dog} wigs to be more expensive or fur coats to be more pricey,” said senior Logan Davison.
In Montana it is illegal to give a rat to someone as a present. Montana made this law to prevent improper influence on public officials. I wonder who is influencing public officials with rats.
“I think that is an atrocity because I know a lot of people who want rats in Montana, but I can’t gift them one because of this law,” stated junior Nicholas Cunningham.
In Hawaii they made it illegal to place a coin in one’s ear. This law was made when Hawaii residents hid coins in their ear when the US tried to destroy their currency and make it illegal.
“Uhh that’s weird,” said junior Alex Ellis.
These apparently concerning laws are hopefully followed by the citizens of the states that made the laws. There are plenty more ridiculous laws out there, but hopefully nobody gets arrested for these.
