On Nov. 1, 2022, Taylor Swift announced her sixth tour, which was described as a bewitching journey through the “eras” in her career. Since then, the American singer has broken records by taking her fans through a dazzling experience with multiple costume changes, stunts and an outrageous stage production.
“So tonight, we’re going to be going through an adventure, one era at a time. We’re going to be exploring the last seventeen years of music that I’ve been lucky enough to make and you’ve been kind enough to care about,” Swift tells the audience in Glendale, AZ, first show of the Eras Tour.
The show, which consists of 44 songs in the span of three hours and fifteen minutes, starts off with beautiful rose pastel colors and the melodic tunes of “Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince” welcoming her seventh album and entering her “Lover” era.
Throughout the concert, the audience remains vibrant and palpable. Friends wearing sparkly outfits, moms and daughters in matching outfits, parents with messy, sparkly 13s drawn on their faces become as much a part of the show as Taylor Swift.
After Swift closes her “Lover” era with “The Archer,” welcoming an all-time classic Fearless era with a gold-dipped scenario and costume, flashing lights highlight the massive stage as Swift plays the guitar along with her band, creating a nostalgic feeling in the air.
There is a sense of intimacy as the audience watches Taylor Swift go through seventeen years’ worth of music and her life, “Evermore” could be described as the peak of this moment, since Swift sings “Marjorie,” a song dedicated to her grandmother. After “Fearless” departs, vine trees grow in the middle of a hazy fog, welcoming her ninth album.
After Swift’s heartbreaking performance of “Tolerate it,” a serpent lights up in the audience and crawls all the way to the stage, announcing that her sixth album has arrived: “Reputation”.
“Reputation” is filled with all kinds of stage effects and as Taylor Swift struts down the stage in a crimson red bodysuit, the platform lifts her up while she sings “Don’t Blame me,” making the audience stare in awe.
Besides the revolutionary statement she is making as a musician, Taylor Swift has also added $5 billion to the worldwide economy, according to the Market Research firm Question Pro.
As the show progresses, Swift takes her audience on a journey from her breakup songs in “Red” to the mystical stories narrated in “Folklore”. She does impressive costume changes and dances all around the stage while connecting with her fans.
After Swift’s rendition of her best music in the last seventeen years, she pleases her audience with two surprise songs each show, which adds to the element of surprise.
Once the show is over, audience members leave with a smile plastered on their faces, arms full of friendship bracelets traded with other fellow fans, and a sense of empowerment. The Eras Tour has become more than a concert, it is a bejeweled display of human connection with one thing in common: the joy of music.
