President’s Day is Monday, February 19th. To celebrate the long weekend, here are 8 activities to check out.
The Hermitage: Learn more about the seventh president as you tour his home, land, garden, and even where he and his wife are buried. Open all weekend from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
James K. Polk’s gravesite: Located at the State Capitol, you can see the gravesite of the only president whose body has been moved twice since dying.
Listen to Johnny Cash’s “Mr. Garfield,” a song about the assassination of President James Garfield that happened on September 19, 1881.
Watch the movie Lincoln (PG-13): The movie is about our 16th president, and his actions to end the Civil War and permanently abolish slavery with the 13th amendment.
Tour the home of our 11th chief executive. The President James K. Polk Home and Museum will celebrate Presidents’ Day weekend by offering half-price admission from Saturday, February 17th through Monday, February 19th.
Enjoy a free hike at Owl’s Hill from 1 to 3 p.m. on Presidents Day: The sanctuary is at 545 Beech Creek Road in Brentwood.
