Battle of the Bands at Stones River Battlefield
When: Oct. 14 @ 10 AM – 6 PM
Where: Stones River Battlefield
Cost: free
The North/South Music Ambassadors along with The Stones River National Battlefield will re-create this historic battle as part of the park’s annual month long “Sharing Our Past” event. Brass musicians and drummers will converge on Murfreesboro from all over the country to duke it out while playing authentic civil war era instruments and music.
Bicycle Tours of the Stones River National Battlefield
When: Oct. 14 @ 9 AM
Where: Stones River Battlefield
Cost: free
Join a ranger for guided bicycle tours of Stones River National Battlefield on the second Saturday of the month from April through October. Get healthy exercise, reduce your carbon footprint, and learn about the major Civil War battle that occurred here in late 1862 and early 1863.
Owl Hoots Night Hike
When: Oct. 13 @ 8 – 10 PM
Where: Barfield Crescent Park
Cost: $3 per person
Meet up at the Wilderness Station, located at the back of the park, for a live demonstration and then journey into the darkness on a guided hike. Ages five and older can participate. Reservations are a must, so call 615-217-3017
Wingapalooza
When: Oct. 15 @ 11 AM – 4 PM
Where: Mayday Brewery, 521 Old Salem Road in Murfreesboro
Cost: $10
Allows patrons to get free samples from participating restaurants. There will also be a wing-eating contest and raffles.
