Wrestling Expectations Are High
The Blackman Blaze wrestling team kicked off their season in November, and they have fought their way to quite the impressive first two months. With a team record of 8-1, they are in a good position moving forward with the rest of the season.
Expectations for this group are high, and the team is aware of that.
“[We want] to be region champs, qualify for state, and go home with some state champions,” stated head coach Ronnie Bray.
Individually, this Blaze wrestling team is made up of talented wrestlers capable of winning state titles. Wrestlers to watch, according to Coach Bray, are sophomores Landon Fowler and Jalen Brown and junior Daniel Bradford.
One wrestler in specific to watch is senior Matthew Sells. Sells, who is undefeated this season, is also a defending state champion. What’s most important to Sells, however, is being a leader for this team.
“Knowing everyone comes to me for help is a good feeling,” stated Sells.
Moving forward, look for Sells and the rest of the Blaze wrestling team to achieve their goals for the season. Follow their progress on Twitter @BlazeWrestling.
