Restaurant Feature: BJ’s Brewhouse
One of the many restaurants located in Murfreesboro is BJ’s Brewhouse, a family-friendly eatery that serves high-quality food in a relaxed, accommodating environment.
Located at the Avenue, BJ’s exterior is distinctive, drawing customers in with its illuminated sign and appealing look.
Entering BJ’s, the interior is the real pride of the building. They have found a way to incorporate rustic with modern designs to create a relaxed and cool atmosphere. The rustic wood, glass garage doors, and signature BJ’s murals allow the space to have an urban, open-loft feel.
BJ’s menu is also diverse, with options for most palates. They have featured food entrees that rotate monthly varying from pizza to burgers to pasta. Luckily, BJ’s allowed a few members of The Blackman Voice staff to sample some of their signature dishes.
Avocado Eggrolls: The staff was at first skeptical as to why these eggrolls were known as their best-selling appetizer. Once we tasted them, we knew why. The blend of avocados, cream cheese, and much more created a creamy texture that complemented the egg roll wrapping. Not to mention the tamarind dipping sauce that enhances the spices and flavors of the egg rolls and keeps you wanting more!
Bacon Cheeseburger: The managers at BJ’s completely understand the cravings of teenagers: burgers. Their signature burger, the Bacon Cheeseburger, not only looked but also tasted terrific. Although the buns were exceptionally greasy, it was outshined by the taste of the burger. Thin-crisp fries accompanied the burger. Not the best fries in Murfreesboro, but something I could find myself snacking on for hours.
The BJ’s Favorite: This deep-dish pizza deserves the title it was given. The pizza resembles the closest to Chicago deep dish in Tennessee. The deep-dish was piled high with toppings such as meatballs, pepperoni, Italian sausage, mushrooms, green peppers, black olives, and season tomatoes. The amount of toppings may seem overwhelming, but they came together perfectly to claim its title.
Chicken Bacon Mac and Cheese: The runner up to the BJ’s favorite. This mac and cheese is not ordinary. It includes chicken, bacon, and broccoli that stand out within the pasta. It had an adequate ratio of cheese to noodles, which makes it an absolute must have!
Pizookie Trio: You can’t leave BJ’s without having a Pizookie. The out of the oven, gourmet cookie topped with ice cream is at the top of the list. But why settle for only one Pizookie when you can get three? The trio allows you to order three mini Pizookies from your choice of chocolate chunk, peanut butter, white chocolate macadamia nut, salted caramel, cookies n’ cream, or triple chocolate.
The prices are suitable for most teenagers, ranging from $8 to $12 for any signature, featured dish. Overall, BJ’s is a positive addition to Murfreesboro because of its relaxed, family-friendly ambience, high quality food, and suitable prices. These qualities will allow BJ’s to become a go-to eatery in Murfreesboro.
