High school can be a lot of fun. In high school things change and people change. It will be okay, but incoming freshman should know to take it seriously. This is the time where your commitment and time really counts.

Here are a few tips to make this high school experience not necessarily easier, but more fruitful.

  1. Make sure to study hard and ask questions. Asking questions will help so much. Keep your grades up and try to interactive as much as you can.

“Not completing homework can be a slippery slope. Stay on top of your work,” stated Courtney Gregory.

  1. Try getting involved. Blackman has all type of clubs and sports fit for anyone. You may never know where you’ll find a place to call family.

“You won’t make it very far alone. Wrestling for me was my family,” stated Jalen Brown.

  1. Stay out of trouble and choose your friends wisely. Having friends is essential to a healthy lifestyle, but if their mindset isn’t about focusing on school and concern about your education then you might want to give them some space. Distractions will drag you down and throw you off your purpose.

“Do your homework and study! Stay out of drama. Failure is real,” stated Erika Shanklin.

  1.  It’s okay to have fun but remember this: stay focused, work hard and try your best. You don’t have to have everything figured out by the end of the year, just stay on track.

High school isn’t about popularity, it is about expanding your knowledge and becoming successful.
